Morrisons shoppers have been pissed off by the new menu at its cafes – with some people complaining about their favorite items missing.
The supermarket has reopened its cafes for customers to sit down and eat following the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Confirming the news last month, Morrisons said there would also be a “whole new menu” in place – but that hasn’t been well received by all customers.
Some have moaned that there was no more lasagna or jacketed potatoes, according to Birmingham Live – The Mirror also couldn’t see these items available when we checked their menu online today.
It is not clear if this is a collapsed menu that will be put in place temporarily or if this is the new permanent offering.
We have asked Morrisons for more information and will update this article when we have a response.
Taking to Twitter to complain, one person said: “I visited the new Cafe for our tea today. Before the lockdown we visited the cafe a few times as my favorite was the delicious lasagna.
“It was taken off the menu to tell you that you are now making a healthier menu. Shouldn’t it be our choice of what we eat? “
Another blustered: “We don’t like your new menu not as good as the old one. I complained there aren’t many when before it was crowded.”
A third said: “I went to our local Morrison Cafe and was sad that I didn’t see any breakfasts or sandwiches that came with a little bag of crisps.”
A fourth added: “Yesterday – first day back to try a new menu – NO JACKET POTATO !! Do Morrisons cafes want to lose loyal customers?”
Announcing the reopening of its cafes last month, Morrisons said: “Welcome!
“The doors to our cafe are open again and we can’t wait for you to try our brand NEW menu!
“With security screens and social distancing in place, order on your cell phone from the comfort of your seat.”
This isn’t the first time Morrisons has sparked outrage from customers in recent weeks.
Shoppers threatened to boycott the supermarket just a few weeks ago over changes to its More loyalty program.
As part of the changes, customers can no longer collect points – instead, they receive digital coupons through an app.
A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “We’re sorry to hear that some popular dishes are not on the menu at this time.
“We have worked hard to improve the quality of all the products in our cafes and now include a lot of our The Best products as well as baking more dishes from scratch.
“We will of course continue to listen attentively and respond to customer comments and have informed our coffee team of those comments.”
